Dynamic Chassis and Motor Mounts

and their use in building Thingies and other vintage cars

Dynamic chassis were considered one of the best commercial chassis for racing in the Golden Era of slot up to 1966-67. There were several versions for most of the motors available then.

Recently, there has been a resurgence of their use for vintage racing and scratch building.

Here are some examples of design solutions that have been used by different scratch builders.

 

The 1st of the series is a Bob Suzuki creation for a Lancer Hornet body painted by Tom Andersen and a Dynamic motor mount for a Mabuchi 26D:

The 2nd of the series is a Bob Suzuki creation for a Shinoda Mongoose body painted by Jairus Watson and a Dynamic motor mount for a Mabuchi 26D. Front wheels are BuzCo replicas by Kay Anderson.

 
   
 
   

 

The 3rd of the series is a Steve “Lowrider” Kempson creation for an “Intruder” body by Larry LS painted by Steve himself and a Dynamic chassis for a Mabuchi 16D can. Riggen front wheels are mounted on a Dynamic independent set up. Rear wheels are Arodyn’s Russkit replica.

 
   
 

 

The 4th of the series is a John “Howmet TX” Dilworth creation for a “Pocket Rocket” body based on a vintage plastic kit supplied by Swissracer, painted by Tillie Dilworth and a Dynamic chassis for a Mabuchi 26D. Riggen front wheels are mounted on a custom suspension set up.
